Bolton Point Drain Services

Six drain jobs cover the peninsula, and each one has a page spelling out the method:

CCTV Drain Inspection

Film the pipe before anyone digs. The camera travels the run and shows every joint, crack and root entry on screen, so the repair goes to the exact break, not the whole yard:

Drain Jetting

Water at pressure, no chemicals. A jetting head strips grease, silt and root mat off the pipe wall and pushes the lot downstream:

Blocked Sewer

When waste pushes back indoors. The clear for a shower, pan or yard gully running the wrong way, with the cause filmed so it does not come straight back:

Stormwater Drains

Rain that will not leave the yard. Pits that scour and fill on the low blocks, and lines that have lost their fall to the ridge runoff:

Pipe Relining

A new wall inside the old pipe. A liner threads through the damaged run and cures in place, so the yard stays intact while the drain gets its strength back:

Tree Root Removal

Cut the roots, then close the door. Root cutting followed by the repair or reline that stops the next invasion at the entry point:

What tells you the line is blocked?

A single slow sink may just be its own trap. When several fixtures slow at once, the line itself is struggling:

  • Several fixtures slowing together, the sink and the shower at the same time.
  • Gurgles from the pan or the floor gully each time the washing machine pumps out.
  • A yard gully filling rather than emptying between showers.
  • A sewer smell hanging about the side path for days.

Two of those together and we film the line before touching it, because a guess costs a day and a second visit.

Three Ways This Peninsula Blocks a Line

Clay under the oldest streets

The first sewers on the cottage streets surveyed back in 1915, Macquarie Street among them, went down in short clay lengths, and the reactive ground here has since shifted the joints out of line. Every offset lip is a catcher for paper and silt until the run chokes.

Estate trees at the junctions

The commission estate of the mid-1980s went in with its own street trees, and forty years of growth has carried their roots to the drain junctions, where a fine mat now packs them from the inside.

The ridge and the pits

The spine The Ridgeway runs along sheds water down both flanks, and the stormwater pits sitting low on the slope are the first to silt shut.

Booking the clear, start to finish

  1. 01

    Ring or send the form

Call (02) 4063 3469 or use the form to explain the fault. We ask enough to bring the right equipment the first time.

  2. 02

    A fixed price first

A plumber inspects the job and names a fixed figure up front. Nothing gets started until you give the go-ahead.

  3. 03

    Film, clear, film again

The drain camera records the line, the jetter or eel clears the blockage, and a second pass shows clean pipe.

  4. 04

    Covered for a year

Every job carries our 365-day warranty on all work. If something we did isn't right, ring the same number.

What drives the price of a drain clear?

Four things decide the figure:

  • The pipe material, since a clay run, a PVC line and a galvanised stub each want a different method.
  • Where the fault sits, since a boundary shaft on the lawn is quicker work than a run beneath a concrete path.
  • What caused it, since grease clears in one pass while a root mat needs cutting and a re-check.
  • The hour, since a 3am backup costs the after-hours rate, and you hear that figure before we start.

When the lake and the rain land together

The water table follows the lake

Down where the wharf and the ramp sit at Bolton Point Park, the lake pushes ground water up with it, and once it is high a drain on the low blocks has no fall left to drain by.

Southerly busters stack the problem

A southerly shoving water at the shore while a downpour lands on the ridge puts the low ground near the foreshore under both at once, and a drain that was fine at breakfast can be under water by dark.

What Customers Say

Sarah's pipe job, exactly as she left it:

They were very understanding of my situation, with a work around for my pipe issues, which ended up being a fraction of the cost than previous quotes from another company.
Sarah

When we're not the right call. Hunter Water owns the sewer main, so a collapse on their side of the property connection goes to them to fix. We would sooner point you at the right crew than bill you for the wrong job.

Drain Questions From The Peninsula

Do you clear drains in the older cottages near the waterfront?

Yes. Those waterfront streets from the 1915 subdivision carry the oldest pipe here, short clay lengths laid through the mid-1900s. We clear the run, then film the joints so you can see for yourself whether the trouble will be back.

Will jetting damage old clay pipes?

Not when the pressure is matched to the pipe. We film the line first, see what we are dealing with, then set the jetter to suit the material and the age of the run. Old clay holds up fine to a matched jet.

How do I tell a blocked sewer from stormwater trouble here?

Sewer trouble shows indoors: a shower or floor gully running backwards and a smell attached. Stormwater trouble shows outdoors: water hanging in the yard or sheeting off the ridge toward the low blocks. The two lines take separate clears and separate quotes.

Do you clear tree roots out of drains in Bolton Point?

Yes. The street trees that went in with the mid-1980s commission estate have reached the pipe junctions, and roots pack the line until wastewater stops moving. We cut them out and show you the result on screen.
